I read this article on Yahoo News over the weekend and the wheels have been spinning in my head ever since….
The World’s Most Expensive Pedicure
I keep asking myself these questions:
1. Would I spend that much on a pedi even if I was the Queen of England?
2. How could I ever charge a client that much for a pedi? What would I need to offer to justify that price?
3. Does Emu Oil really work that great?
4. Who is this Margaret Dabbs lady?
I have come to this conclusion.
I don’t know if I would ever spend that much on a pedi. I’ll cross that bridge when I get there. 🙂 I would LOVE to find the BEST pedicure in the world, even if it’s not the most expensive. Margaret Dabbs sound like they offer the ultimate hand and foot care so I would assume her pedi’s would be right up there with the best of the best. Here’s an interesting article about Bastien Gonzalez who might possibly offer the world’s best pedicure…
I honestly don’t think I could ever charge that much for a pedi here in St. George. There is the AmanGiri resort near by that probably charges quite a significant amount for spa services and I have a good friend that paid over $150 for a pedi at the Wynn Spa in Las Vegas so I wouldn’t need to move far to charge luxury prices. I think atmosphere definitely plays a huge role in pricing. And using quality products. And being knowledgeable about the entire process. And offering a pleasant attitude and personality.
I sampled some Emu Oil at the health food store yesterday on my dry cuticles–they didn’t carry Australian Organic Emu Oil as Ms. Dabbs recommends. It was from an Emu Ranch in Montana. Which made me curious…what is Emu Oil exactly??? So I Googled it. Here’s what I found thanks to Wikipedia…
“Emu oil is oil derived from adipose tissue harvested from certain subspecies of the emu, Dromaius novaehollandiae, a flightless bird indigenous to Australia. Unadulterated emu oil can vary widely in colour and viscosity, but, assuming the emu has enjoyed a natural diet, is generally a yellow liquid.”
So it’s from the fat of the Emu bird. I think I might stick with Jojoba and Coconut oil. 🙂
And this is Margaret Dabbs and her Foot Clinics…
If you can’t afford a $2500 pedicure, you can buy Margaret Dabb’s hand and foot product line at SpaceNK.
Margaret Dabb’s Foot Care
Here’s a brief summary of Ms. Dabbs’ recommendations from the Yahoo article. I did a foot care article a while back you can read here. I agree with a lot of what she says. I haven’t used a crystal file before but I added them to my Shop and plan on reviewing them soon! Also, since you are filing your feet dry, I would recommend applying a hand sanitizer all over your feet before you begin to clean them thoroughly. And then I would wash the exfoliant off in the bath or shower.
What are your thoughts on ultimate luxury services??? Would you pay $2500 for a pedicure? Have you used Emu Oil? Where is the best pedicure you’ve ever gotten?
I would love to hear what you think! Thanks for reading! I’ve got a few fun nail art ideas lined up so check back soon!
