Summer Braided Nail Design

My beautiful, funny, amazing friend Nicole got her nails done last week. Well actually she called it “making magic”. I think we did pretty good. 🙂 We used Gelish Carnival Hangover for the neon pink, Gelish My Favorite Accessory Stuff for the teal, and my favorite white, OPI Alpine Snow for the braids and polka dots. I think it turned out magical! 🙂

I did this with soak off gel polish…which is quite time consuming for the braided nail design. It’s a good thing Nicole loves hanging out with me 🙂 Here’s a video from CutePolish’s YouTube channel showing you how to do it with regular polish:

With Gelish gel polish I did each braid color one at a time, one coat at a time, having Nicole cure each coat individually. I wanted to make sure each braid “strand” was opaque before I moved on to the next one. I then did two thick top coats to smooth it out really well. I love the final result! I think Nicole’s been enjoying them too! 🙂 It’s a fun look because there are so many color combinations–it would be super cute for the 4th of July to do red, white, and blue.

Well we leave soon for the Central Coast of California. I am totally thrilled about this trip because it has been ridiculously hot here in the desert! Coming from 110 degrees it’s going to feel like winter time out there! I’m nervous about my wardrobe and my husband says we have to share a suitcase….oh boy! I still haven’t decided how to do my nails but I am leaning towards a soft opaque pink with a cute heart/flag decal I bought at Walmart today. I’ll post a pic as soon as they are up!

Hope everyone had a great weekend and we will chat tomorrow!
