If your like a lot of people, you buy way too many beauty products. You’ll end up using most of the products once or twice, eventually sticking them in the back of a junk drawer or medicne cabinet, until one day you purge your bathroom throwing away almost all those beauty products you spent far too much of your hard earned money on. I mean, I never do this…ever…but I have a lot of friends with this problem and I would like to help these poor girls by listing my 5 favorite nail products in order to reduce the amount of wasted money in their purses and beauty products in the garbage basket.
Fish Oil–Grow Strong Healthy Nails Naturally!
Beauty is more than skin deep. All the external beauty products in the world will do nothing for you if you aren’t nourishing your body internally. Since you’re already drinking lots of water, getting plenty of sleep, exercising, and eating a healthy diet, one of the best additional things you can do for yourself is to take Omega 3 Fatty Acids. Fish oil is a great way to ingest Omega 3’s!
While I was working in the salon, I would constantly ask my clients with beautiful healthy nails what they did to maintain them. Once in a while someone would say they have had perfect nails their whole lives most likely due to genetics but most of the time women would say they have been taking an internal supplment which has helped their nails tremendously. One client in particular was told by her eye doctor to take Omega 3’s, TheraTears Brand to be exact. She took one pill at each meal (3 x’s a day) and noticed in no time at all that her nails were growing like weeds. You can buy TheraTears at most local pharmacies but my husband and I buy Fish Oil at Costco for a great price and love the results. I take 3 pills in the morning after breakfast and 3 at night with dinner. My hair and nails have never been healthier since I have been taking my daily dose of Fish Oil. I talked to one girl in the salon with amazingly strong healthy nails who had been taking fish oil on a regular basis ever since she was a little girl because she had a heart condition. Her doctor advised her to take 10-11 capsules a day!
Of course I am not a doctor so please consult with a physician if you are concerned about taking fish oil or Omega 3’s! 🙂
Seche Vite–The Best Quick Drying Long Lasting Top Coat!
I’ve used a ton of different top coats and none of them measure up to Seche Vite. I’m not the only nail tech who believes this either. All the nail bloggers I follow on Instagram and Facebook only use Seche Vite. I talk about it in most of my nail art posts…it’s amazing! Not only does it dry your polish lightening quick, it is also the most durable top coat EVER! You can buy Seche Vite in most retail outlets but it seems like the most cost effective place to purchase it is on Amazon. If you don’t polish your nails at home, I would recommend taking a bottle to the salon with you and asking your nail tech to use it if she uses a different top coat. My polish lasts a good six weeks on my toes when I top it with Seche Vite and my clients could put closed toe shoes on within 30 minutes of a pedicure once I started using this amazing product! It also stays super shiny and glossy and comes off easily with a good polish remover.
Star Nail Red Foot File–The Best Way To Smooth Dry Cracked Feet!
I love this foot file! I’m going to do a whole post dedicated to my love of this file one day to show you just how much I love it! It’s double sided with a medium and course grit texture, durable, but extremely lightweight and easy to maneuver. The best part is it’s ultra inexpensive! I’ve bought expensive foot files and in my opinion none of them compare! My favorite way to smooth dry cracked feet is to sit in a comfy chair with a towel under your feet and gently file while your feet are dry. Be careful not to file too aggressively or hit smooth skin. If you’ve got Hobbit feet, it may take a few attempts to get the desired result. After you’ve filed your feet, clean off the residue and apply my next favorite nail product….
Hempz Herbal Body Moisterizer–My Favorite Body Lotion!
I have used a million different body lotions! In fact, for a brief moment (close to a VERY LONG year to be exact) I was a Store Manager at Bath and Body Works. I would possibly consider myself an expert on this topic. I love Hempz Body Moisterizer for several reasons: It’s loaded with nourishing ingredients and doesn’t contain petroleum products. It absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave a greasy film. It smells great! And it’s priced right. There are several organic body lotions I love by boutique companies but I hate spending over $15-20 on a body lotion. Hempz is great for dry feet (after you’ve given yourself a quick pedi with the Star Nail Red Foot File!), dry hands, and it’s also wonderful as an allover body lotion! I promise you’ll love it!
Soak Off Gel Polish–the best new invention of the decade!
I absolutely adore soak off gel polish! There are tons of different brands out there, and I’ve done several posts on these products. If you click on gel polish in my categories you can read all my reviews. Soak off gel polish is so great when you need your polish to last a good week, at least, say for vacation or holidays. If your careful it won’t damage your nails. And the average consumer can purchase a DIY kit to do at home. If your wanting to grow your nails out to a longer sporty length, soak off gel polish is a great alternative to help your nails stay strong. My favorite brands are Shellac by CND, Gelish by Hand and Nail Harmony, GelColor by OPI, and Mani-Q by Young Nails. I know there are lots of other great brands out there though and I recommend doing some research to find a local nail tech who does quality work. Or watch lots of YouTube videos to learn how to do it yourself!
Thanks for reading and I would love to hear what your favorite nail products are!
