Essie Madison Ave-Hue with Pure Pearlfection and Nail Art

First off, I bought this Essie color yesterday and I love it! Madison Ave-Hue is a pretty pink/purple with a slight shimmer. The application was flawless with two coats. I applied a coat of Pure Pearlfection over it to give it a little more shimmer and love the results. I did this mani for an Instagram Nail Art Challenge, my first one I will have you know. 🙂 With an Instgram Nail Art Challenge it’s normally a daily challenge to do your nails a different given theme each day but this challenge was called the “I’ve got a life challenge” so the creator is only doing a different theme every four days, which is perfect for me.

I used China Glaze Dandy Lyin Around on my ring and thumb. I love this pretty white color, but I’m a little bit dissapointed with the product. I’ve only used this bottle of polish maybe five times and it’s already getting thick and goopy. It seems like China Glaze polishes tend to do that quicker than other brands. Anyone else noticed this?

For the flowers I used Madison Ave-Hue for the outer petals, Essie Mojito Madness for the middle green petals, and China Glaze Mimosa’s Before Mani’s for the inner petals. I then placed a dot of OPI Need Sunglasses in the middle. I added a few drops of Turkquoise and Caicos dot details on the outside and then did a coat of Pure Pearlfection once the flower had set. Here are a few pics of the process…

I did four big dots for the outer petals and dragged the tip of a straight pin through it....

I then placed smaller dots of Mojito Madness inside the upper petals and dragged the straight pen through it again...next time I do this I will place the dots up higher to the top petals and make sure that the base color isn't so thick....

The final look....I really love this although the flower looked a little bit differently in my mind...I was shooting for a Zinnia like this....

This would have been cute! I will try again soon!

So the moral of this post is if you are looking for a great pink summer polish with no orange tones, buy Essie Madison Ave-Hue! If you are looking for a clear shimmer polish to smooth out nail art (perfect for blending ombre nails!) buy Essie Pure Pearlfection! If you want a simple flower nail art technique, my little dot flower is super easy. You can do more layers of petals and make a zinnia if you place the dots just right 🙂

One last shoutout–everyone needs to download the Tabeso App for your iPhone! My brother Taylor Prince and his buddies developed this app and it’s amazing! You can search events in any city and download them to your calender so you never miss an important event. Here is a link to their website. Tell them Anna sent you 🙂

I hope everyone is having a fabulous Wednesday! I can’t wait to see what the last WOD of the 2013 Crossfit Open will be tonight—Dave Castro sounds like he has something pretty gruesome in store….who knows with that guy though???? Let me know what your favorite summer polish colors are! I love hearing from my readers!
