Go Grams!

EZ Flow HD Pink acrylic on grandma

Isn’t my grandma pretty! She finally let me fix up her nails a few weeks ago (I think she is actually coming in for a fill tomorrow….) and they turned out amazing! As I mentioned below, she is 90 years old and has suffered from brittle, broken nails all her life. I was hesitant to put acrylic nails on her this late in life, but they couldn’t have gone any better. πŸ™‚ We glued on some tips, which was fun to see …

A Long Time Coming….

Wow, I haven’t updated my blog in a while! I would like to apologize to all of my adoring fans πŸ™‚ ha ha…My apprenticeship program is going amazingly well! I have about four weeks left or 125 hours. I’ve lost track of all the full sets I have done in the last two months, which is one of the few times I am happy about losing my mind πŸ™‚ I would feel okay saying that I am catching on…

I absolutely love this work and wish I had more clients to …

My First Full Set of Acrylics!!!

What do you think?!? Not too shabby for a first timer, aye? My sister Mandy was the lucky girl to receive my first full set, and I will never forget it! I was really nervous to apply the first smile line on her middle finger, but by the time I got to her tenth pinkie, I felt much more confident in my skills. We used a bright white tip with High Definition pink for her base. They were cut very short as she hasn’t had nails in a while and …

Glitter Gel Toes

Have you ever tried gel toes? If not, you definitely need to come into the school for a set! I LOVE them!!!! They last forever (or until you want to change them) and come in tons of different colors and styles. These are a festive holiday design I did for my mom (I call them Grinch toes!) but the possibilites are limitless! Once I become more advanced we can blend or fade two colors together or create a french tip design. It’s only $10.00 for glitter gel toes at the …

Gel Nails Rock!

I did my first full set of gel nails yesterday! I was a little bit leary. I didn’t know if I would like them or not, but all in all I love them πŸ™‚Β  I did a white tip with clear base, and then we added a ruby red glitter stripe across the smile line for festivities. We have tons of different colors of glitter we can do on the tip or we can get creative and blend colors as well. Even though they are made out of the same …

Twinkle Toes

Her first pedicure

My grandmother Irene Milne Bulloch had her first pedicure yesterday. She is going to be 90 years old in January.

It was an exciting experience for several reasons, three of which I’ve listed below:

1. She has never had her toes painted before (at least that she can remember.)

2. She grew up right down the street from Hot Nails πŸ™‚

3. She scheduled a manicure when she left, which must means she had a good time.

So Far So Great!

Yes, yes, school is going great! I absolutely love it! It doesn’t hurt that my instructor

tells me I am doing good and might possibly be a natural, but I am trying not to let

that go to my head…she probably says that to all the new students. πŸ™‚

I believe we will learn pedicures sometime this week, which I am sooo excited for.

Vicky had this amazing pumpkin spice lotion that she uses for the pedicures,

so I hope that all my …

Model Mother

My mom finally was able to come in for her manicure! Yay! It went really well–the hardest part for me is remembering all the steps of the massage, but I know I will get there πŸ™‚ I will postΒ  a pic if possible…I need to get a little digital camera to take to class so I can post pics on here more frequently. However, that being said, my camera phone does a good job and I always have it with me, so I guess I really don’t have an excuse …

New set of nails for Anna!

Fun Harvest Nails! πŸ™‚

Just wanted to post a pic of my new set! One of the students in our class put a set of acrylic tips on me today after our theory discussion. I love this job! πŸ™‚ We did a white glitter tip with a strip of copper pumpkin. So cute and festive!

Day 2

Here I am world! :)))

Another great autumn day at Hot Nails! I learned a lot about safety and sanitary issues today, which scared me! πŸ™ I never realized there are so many germs in our world. Seriously gross and scary. Which is why it is all that much more important to choose a safe, clean nail stylist.

My instructor Vicki let me do a practice manicure on her, and I think my mom may be coming in tomorrow for a manicure as well. There are actually a lot of …
