All about Pinterest! Are you a Pinner too????

I'm a Pinterest Addict!

Yes, yes, it’s true, I’ve discovered Pinterest. If you’ve discovered Pinterest as well, I’m sure you understand this obsession. If you haven’t, I’m sure it will only be a matter of time.

I have a few of my clients to blame for this obsession–Mauri and Brenda to be precise. But don’t worry, I’m not mad at you girls. I do believe that Pinterest is one of the most worthwhile websites to come along in a LONG time for several reasons. I will come back to that.

So I’m not quite sure the logistics, but I believe Pinterest is somehow affiliated or linked with Facebook. If you are already a Pinner, you can login with your Facebook information, which isn’t too uncommon with a lot of websites I suppose. So don’t quote my on my Facebook/Pinterest affiliation theory….

Ok, moving on. What is this Pinning, Pinterst thingy you ask??? Well, imagine yourself going through your favorite magazine (Better Homes and Gardens & of course NAILS Magazine for myself…) and loving a certain picture. You wish you had a place to clip this picture out and save it because you want to keep it close at hand for immediate inspiration when needed. But if your like me, you haven’t made a safe place to keep your precious inspiring photos yet. And then along comes Pinterest! At the click of a mouse, you have yourself a virtual Pinboard! There are probably 20-30 different categories of interest such as beauty, crafts, sports, outdoors, home decor, recipes…you get the picture, right? And of course there is a search engine where you can type in any little specific category your heart desires.

So you’ve found all these inspiring things on Pinterest–after you’ve been exclusively invited to join, of course– you simply click on the “repin” button and make a category for your first Pinboard, give it a cute little description, and voila! You’re a Pinner! It’s pretty funny because the Pinning concept has been difficult for a few of my friends. They have been “Liking” their inspirations, which is fine, but the point is to build Pinboards so you can go back and look at your boards for when the time comes that you get to build your guest cottage in the back yard and need inspiration, or when you go to make a cute craft for Halloween, you would follow the link associated with the picture and it takes you to the original website for instructions. I found a FABULOUS DIY tutorial for homemade Roman Shades that I cannot wait to make soon! I did a homemade race track in our living room out of masking tape last night for Westin….which wasn’t a big hit but it did distract him for a few moments, which was my original goal. So it was a successful night, all because of Pinterest!

Another reason I love Pinterest is because it’s a place to keep all the things you love and dream about, and I’ve listened to The Secret enough to believe in the power of visualizing and positive thinking.

Soooo…..if you haven’t become addicted, I mean signed up for Pinterest yet, leave me your email address and I will send you an invite! Or you can go to www.Pinterest.com and request an invite from them….

I just realized I have a something really important to do…I need to go create a Pinboard for chicken coops! Which will be a whole different topic one day! 🙂

Thanks for reading–Have a great weekend! Come see me at the Salon and we can talk Pinboards and such!
