I am so excited about this mani! Not only are they some of my favorite nails I’ve ever done, I also got to hang out with Allison Hinson for a few hours and I have missed her so much! Here’s a cute pic of our little get together…
Isn’t she beautiful! And let me tell you, her inner beauty exceeds her outer beauty, which says a lot. Allison is quite possibly one of the kindest, sweetest, most genuine people I have ever met. And she is crazy beautiful! And an insanely motivated hard worker! She’s just recently opened her own business called Allison’s Workwear. If you are in an industry that requires the use of a uniform, I highly recommend you give these guys a try. She will ship to you if you don’t live in St. George! Here’s a link to their website:
Back in the old days when I was working in the salon, I got to see Allison on a regular basis. And I kid you not the moment when I decided to do a “Mani-Monday” feature on my site, I got a text message from Allison offering to be a hand model if I ever needed one! But she was mainly texting to say hello 🙂 Coincidental? I think not! 🙂
Allison could probably make a living as a hand model. She has gorgeous hands and nails! I’ve been dying to feature a galaxy type mani too ever since I received a free bottle of Shellac Silver Chrome and Silver VIP Status from CosmoProf last week I couldn’t wait to combine them with a galaxy theme. I decided to incorporate a “constellation” theme as well and hand drew her astrology sign–Scorpio. I just did a Google search on my phone using “Scorpio Constellation” and “Scorpio Sign” for the thumb artwork. Check it out below!
I watched this video from one of my favorite beauty bloggers Miss Jen Fabulous:
Galaxy nails are SOOOO easy and you can get super creative with them! Here are the gel polishes I used with links to buy them:
Black Onyx–OPI–ring and middle fingers
Alpine Snow–OPI–Thumbs
Silver Chrome–CND Shellac–pinkie and index fingers
Silver VIP Status–I did a coat of this on every nail for extra sparkle!
Gelish Waterfield–ring and middle fingers
OPI Pink Flamenco–ring and middle finger
Gelish My Favorite Accessory–ring and middle finger
Gelish Need a Tan–ring and middle finger
You’ll also need a sponge applicator…anything from a makeup sponge to an eyelash applicator to a cleaning sponge will work. I followed Jen’s video pretty much exactly how she demos it. I think it’d be super fun to get creative and use a bunch of different colors and combinations! Also, an LED quick curing light would come in handy when you are sponging on the colors for the galaxy. It was fairly time consuming curing each hand in between colors. I kept thinking I should pull my Gelish 6V light out but didn’t feel like digging through all my nail stuff 🙂
Oh and I put together an outfit on Polyvore to go with these nails–I drew inspiration from Allison’s adorable outfit she was wearing that day and one of her favorite stores, Buckle. Her shoes are amazing right!?! 🙂
I love how these turned out! I love that I got to spend the afternoon with Allison! She was so sweet and brought “treats” by for my hubby and I after she got off work. I tell ya you will not meet a better person 🙂
Thanks for reading and if you want to be on my mani-monday feature comment below or send me an email! Can’t wait to meet more friends! :)))))
