Mother’s Day is right up there at the top of my favorite holidays. Not because it’s a day where I get spoiled, but it’s a day that reminds me of the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I’ll never, ever forget the first time I laid eyes on my son…I know it’s super cliched…but it was the best day of my life. Becoming a mother. I never knew I would love it so much.
Now we have another little boy about to join our family and I can’t be more excited. I love that my boys decide to come into the world right around the same time that our country decides to celebrate Mom’s. My 8 year old’s birthday always falls a few days before or after Mother’s Day and our new baby is due May 22 but I really have a feeling I’m going to have him sooner. And I’m really praying he doesn’t appear anytime before his brother’s birthday.
I was clueless on how I wanted to do my nails for Mother’s Day and then it hit me to do a May gem stone mani being that there’s a very good chance I will have two May babies. At first I went a step further and drew the Taurus sign on my ring finger with green glitter but I just didn’t like how it turned out so I filed it off and just went with the emeralds. Which I’m hoping isn’t a sign that our baby is going to be a Gemini. Not that I have a problem with Gemini’s but that means he won’t be here for three more weeks…or longer! And I am at the miserable point in my pregnancy.
Plus, I get along really well with Taurus’s. My little sister is a Taurus and we have always been really close (I think she’ll be in the delivery room taking photos for us…the only person other than my husband and nurses and OB that I will allow!) and my 8 year old is a Taurus as I mentioned and we get along great. 🙂 I’m a Cancer and my husband is a Virgo and I think both signs are supposed to get along with the stubborn bulls. 🙂 So if we have two Taurus boys in our home, I’m not too worried about it. 🙂
I used CND Shellac Cocoa and Negligee for this mani along with Gelish Crown Jewels and Martha Stewart Craft Glitters Smoky Quartz. I first applied one coat of Cocoa and then one coat of Negligee. I LOVE this combination. It’s the perfect nude gel polish color! I then mixed a few drops of Crown Jewels with the Smoky Quartz glitter and faded it down the nail beds with a gel brush. While it was still wet on my middle finger, I placed the small emerald gems and then cured for two minutes. I did one Shellac top coat, cured, and that was it!
It’s a simple mani but I love it! Plus, it will be pretty if I have to keep it on for a few weeks due to having a new baby (can you tell I am ready to have this baby…next week would be preferable!).
This would be a cute mani if you have several kids with different birth stones. My mom has eight different birth stones for all her kids…I’ll have to give her a Mother’s Day birth stone mani some day. 🙂
I hope everyone is having a fabulous week!
Thanks so much for reading!
