How to do feather nail art with a Metallic Sharpie!

I did another fun feather nail art manicure today for an Instagram contest and love the results! The Instagram contest was a Gold Theme, so after much thought and consideration, I opted for a feather mani because I just LOVE feathers and I love gold! 🙂

I bought the metallic Sharpie’s at Walmart a few weeks ago and really haven’t used them much, but this feather mani is the perfect opportunity to use them. The lines look sharp and severe at first, but when you go over them with the glitter polish to add more shimmer, it blends the lines really well.

I did 3 coats of Flip Flop Fantasy by China Glaze and sealed it off with a thick coat of Seche Vite. This is your starting point! 🙂

Next add thin wispy strokes out from the center line...don't worry about it looking perfect, when you add the glittery polish it will blend it all together....

Next take a fine glittery gold polish (I used China Glaze Angel Wings which is what I also used on my index finger....) and add it over the feather design with a striper brush in thin wispy strokes....

Finally add tiny little dots down the center to highlight the dimension of the feather...start in the corner and graduate the dots out to the end...I used the tip of this Stripe Rite polish but you could use a dotting tool as well....

Please feel free to ask me any questions! This is a super easy nail art technique and I know you will love it! Just be sure to make sure your first coat of top coat is dry before you start drawing your feather on with your Sharpie. Also, when you add your last top coat, the Sharpie might smear. Be really carefuly or add a top coat over just the Sharpie part of the feather with a striping brush to seal the Sharpie.

Hope everyone is having a great week! Thanks for checking out my blog!
