DIY At Home Facial–Aztec Healing Clay and Brown Sugar Honey Scrub

Step 1: DIY Brown Sugar and Honey Scrub

The first step of my DIY facial is my brown sugar and honey scrub. This is very easy to make–you simply mix brown sugar and honey together to create a sticky paste. I do my face scrub in the shower because it is messy and sticky and I like to use it on my arms and legs and chest and feet…pretty much anywhere that needs a good exfoliation! I did a previous post about this scrub–you can read about it here

Step 2: Aztec Healing Clay Face Mask

For the mask I use Aztec Healing Clay. I bought it at our local health food store Dixie Nutrition. I also like Redmond Clay and I’m sure there are other varieties available as well.

To make your mask simply pour about 2 tablespoons into a small dish and mix with a tiny bit of water to form a medium consistency paste. Apply to skin and let sit about 20 minutes. When it’s time to remove the mask clay will be dry and you won’t be able to move a muscle on your face without feeling like your skin might crack.

Rinse your face in the sink with warm water and wash clay residue off with a facial cloth.

Step 3: Moisterize Your Skin

I finish my facial with pure jojoba oil as a moisturizer. I actually use pure jojoba oil on a daily basis as my face moisturizer. I have very sensitive skin and most store bought products make my skin break out horribly! I love L’Bri products and have found they don’t irritate my skin at all but I am terrible about ordering products in a timely manner. I am definitely an impulse shopper 🙂

Another step I love doing when I have an Aloe Vera plant available is to take an Aloe Vera leaf, cut it open, and spread profusely over my skin. I would do this after Step 2. Aloe is one of the best products for our skin….I need to plant my Aloe now that the weather is warming up!

I am a nail tech, not an esthitician, so as always if you have concerns about any of the products I mentioned please consult with a professional! 🙂 However, all the products I use for my at home facial are basic kitchen or beauty products. I’ve also spent a lot of time in the salon with a wide range of professionals and I’ve scored thousands of professional publications and websites so I feel comfortable recommending these products to you.

You will LOVE how your skin feels and looks after you try this I promise! Your makeup will go on ultra smooth and flawlessly! I try to do this on a weekly basis but usually only get around to it two or three times a month. The clay is also very good for your skin–it is supposed to draw impurities out of your skin and cure all kinds of skin problems. I had a friend who would use it every night to cure teenage acne. Let me know how my DIY facial works for you and feel free to ask me anything! I love to hear from my readers!
