Coachella Nails

My friend Tennille is heading to Coachella this weekend and I know she is going to have so much fun! We’ve been planning her nails for a while now…and this is actually not what we had planned but I had to improvise last minute. I’m glad we did because I like this better!

We were going to use my Pastel Gargantuan Green Grape GelColor and I actually applied all the color, 3-4 coats on each nail, and then went to do the top coat and realized it hadn’t cured hardly AT ALL! I had to file off what little green had cured and redo them with Live.Love.Carnaval.

I’m so glad this happened with Tennille and not a client I didn’t feel comfortable with or when I was booked back to back because it would have been so stressful! I’m going to take my 3 Pastel GelColor’s by the beauty supply tomorrow and see if I can exchange them. I’ve written about how I love them so much they are worth the headache but today it just wouldn’t even cure. I tried using my LED light and my UV light like I said in THIS article and it didn’t help at all. I was sweating and cussing and it was not a pretty sight!

I just don’t understand why some colors will cure so great, like Live.Love.Carnaval and others are so difficult. I’m sure it’s science and chemistry and all that fun stuff but it’s so frustrating!!!

Live.Love.Carnaval is probably the best color ever invented! It seriously looks beautiful on every skin tone and applies perfectly!

Anyway, back to Tennille and her cute Coachella nails. I actually like the coral nails better than the mint–they are bright and funky and should go along perfectly with the Coachella vibes. The peacock feather water transfer nail tattoo is a product I sell in my shop. I was going to freehand the feather then I thought, screw that! These tattoos are so easy to apply and look amazing!

However, one weird thing about the tattoos–the color center in the peacock didn’t show up when I transferred them. It looked like a film didn’t come off that should have. If I wasn’t already stressed out about the gelcolor not curing I would have tried to get the film off but I just dotted on a little bit of color in the center of the feather since I was in a hurry. I would have liked to have done a gold accent stamp on one nail too but Tennille needed to get to Cafe Rio to pick up her lunch and get to her pedi appointment…and then her airbrush tanning appointment. Girls got it rough! 🙂
