Christmas Nail Art! And a recap of my first week back to work!

Oh my goodness do I love Christmas nails! I’m sad I didn’t go back to work sooner just so I could do more Christmas nail art. I keep debating about ordering some cute Christmas art supplies but by the time it gets here I feel like Christmas is going to be over. 🙁 Thank goodness for Amazon Prime right!?!?

I’ve been pretty busy at work this week…my first official week back since I left almost three years ago. And I am so grateful for everyone who gives me business! I seriously love taking care of your hands and feet! I know how important it is to have pretty nails so thank you!

My buddy April is amazing and always chooses super cute themes…I love this simple Christmasy look soooo much! We used all gel polish OPI GelColor Red Hot Rio and Gelish Good Gossip for the sparkly ring finger. I am so excited to do her cruise nails in a few weeks!!!!

OPI Red Hot Rio is one of my favorite reds! And Gelish Good Gossip is the perfect Christmas red!

Deanna is the nicest and sweetest lady ever and I’m so happy my client Keri referred her to me! She is a busy working woman and wanted some cute holiday nails for upcoming parties and events. She wanted acrylic extensions…she has super short nail beds (might possibly be a bit of a nail biter?) so I talked her into letting me do a pink acrylic extension with a gel polish French Manicure. We then did a sparkly Gelish Vegas Nights top coat over the entire nail bed and candy cane stripes on the ring finger. I personally don’t like doing acrylic pink and whites on a really short nail bed because you have to put the white so far down to cover the free edge. I really need to learn the Young Nails Reverse Technique in order to hide short nail beds but I think this look does the trick as well. I actually am coming to prefer doing a gel polish finish on acrylic or gel extensions because when you do a backfill after 2-4 weeks you don’t have to file down so far to remove the color. You just file off the gel polish and proceed to filling the regrowth. Does that make sense?

I did the sweetest, cutest mom and daughter duo on Saturday who also happened to have the greatest nail beds! We did sculpted gel extensions with Young Nails Synergy Gel and then gel polish nail art. Hayley chose Gelish Queen of Hearts with a Christmas Sweater and Snowflake theme and her mom chose Gelish Backstage Beauty with a gold sparkle and Snowflake theme…I love how they turned out!

I also did two pedicures this week which was so fun. I haven’t done pedis in probably four years because I quit doing them once I built a full clientele of nail clients. It was too hard trying to fit all my nail customers in due to all the cleanup of a pedicure. For example, if a pedicure takes 60 minutes, I had to schedule myself 75 in order to have time to clean my pedicure station afterwords (foot care is messy!). But I LOVE doing pedicures! I might not be able to do them forever (foot care is hard work!) but I’m so happy to be able to offer them right now! I think I possibly look forward to them the most because I love scrubbing my hands (along with your feet) with the amazing OPI foot scrub I use and then moisturizing with my favorite CND Almond Hydrating Creme. 🙂

I am so happy to be back at Studio 359. It really is such a great salon to work at. Everyone there is just so wonderful and I’m actually confused as to why I left in the first place…I thought I was so busy and being a stay at home mom was all I had time for. Now I have another child who is so much more demanding than my first and just really wondering what I was thinking leaving the salon and all my customers! lol

It’s been really awesome because I actually ran into several of my old clients this week. They are going to new nail techs now and I don’t in any way expect them to come back to me. I’m just so happy I get to see them every once in a while. 🙂

That’s the greatest part about this job–meeting so many wonderful people on a daily basis and the relationships and connections we make. I love people and although my thought process is so crazy while I am concentrating on nails and I’m not the best conversationist as I’m sculpting an extension or drawing an intricate snowflake I remember everything we talk about and want so badly to send you a text after we are done apologizing for not asking more questions about your plans for the weekend or your new grandbaby. 🙂

That’s a wrap for now! I need to work on my Capstone Project for my college degree…one more class to go and I will have my Bachelor’s in Marketing Management! Woot Woot!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Cya next week!
